We are delighted to bring you this feel-good and life-enhancing romantic comedy, which goes some way to redefining that most popular of all genres. The leading roles are played by the two top rated young stars in Hollywood.
The astonishing and totally gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence, (Winter’s Bone and Hunger Games) recently won the best actress Oscar for her role as Tiffany. Bradley Cooper (Hangover 1&2) every bit as handsome as always, this time plays Pat – a premature returnee from a mental facility where he was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. He feels he can put himself right with a combination of exercise and always looking at the Silver Linings of his life, and by reuniting with his estranged wife…unlikely because he was committed to the facility for beating up her lover. Pat senior (Robert De Niro returning to his very best) also has mental health problems being compulsive obsessive, so just complicates things. All of which might appear to be an unpromising basis for a romantic comedy, but Silver Linings is simply delightful, warm, very funny and heart warming, with a wonderful climax (a hilarious set piece at a ballroom dancing competition) and a bitter-sweet ending.
My favourite film of the year, so don’t miss it and join us on April 17th for another night of great entertainment at Rockbourne Village Hall.
