“Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender put all other Jane Eyre/Rochester duets to shame” – The Telegraph
“A good Jane Eyre there never has been – until now. .Quietly brilliant . . A miracle” – Financial Times
By all accounts, this highly acclaimed 2011 version of Charlotte Brontë’s 1847 novel surpasses all others. It is the story of orphan Jane (Mia Wasilowska – title role in Alice in Wonderland) – the abused orphan-turned-governess sent to a remote mansion in the Yorkshire Peak District, run by kindly housekeeper Mrs Fairfax (Judi Dench), to teach the flighty French daughter of its owner Rochester (Michael Fassbinder). She is intrigued and attracted to the darkly brooding Rochester but flees when she eventually discovers the dark secret he has tried to hide from her. But other circumstances convince her that she must return to him, bringing to a conclusion one of the most compelling love stories ever told. With brilliant acting and amazing scenery this film is a “must”.
