This film documents the famous lack of chemistry between Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) and Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) when they made the film The Prince and the Showgirl together at Pinewood studios in 1956 when Marilyn was also on honeymoon with her new husband, the playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott). 23-year-old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), just down from Oxford and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set and nearly 40 years later, his diary account, The Prince, the Showgirl and Me, was published, but one week was missing. This was published some years later as My Week with Marilyn and this is the story of that week. When Colin introduced Marilyn to some of the pleasures of British life after Arthur Miller had gone home.
